MIDDLE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP KEY

Without leadership, a team cannot excel in the aspirations set forth by the Red Land coaching staff. A leader provides confidence and is a role model for all his teammates. In hockey, as in many sports, the best of these leaders wear the "C" or "A" on their jersey. And although all players should be a leader to his companions on the ice, these captains set forth an example which every player should follow. Leadership is an important aspect in RLIHC, and the Red Land middle school team is packed with leaders, both rookies and veterans alike. Leadership comes with maturity, and the young middle school team may be considered one of the premier teams on the ice which present profound maturity, which follows with astounding leadership.

As Captain of the middle school team, Kenny Forsberg wears the "C" as a seventh grader, and has held the honor since sixth. The captaincy comes with great responsibility as well as pride, and Forsberg brings both to his team. An extremely skilled player, Kenny can weave, deke, and fly past his opponents, and brings a blasting shot to the team's blue line. Along with Kenny's skill, the defenseman provides a trail for all his teammates to follow. Always giving 110% in practice, Kenny shows his team that from hard work stems great accomplishment. Always speaking up in the locker room, Kenny is always giving advice to his teammates as well as filling his team with confidence with his good attitude and pride in being a Patriot.

Assistant Captains Josh Lafferty and Austin Metz provide all the aspects of a good leader alongside Kenny Forsberg, and while only wearing the "A", the two players also bring an exceptional amount of leadership to the team. Lafferty, a speedy offenseman, and Metz, a defensive wrecking-ball, show their leadership at a more specific level. While still leaving footsteps to follow in for the team as a whole, Josh gives his offensive linemates a leader to show them the specifics in excelling at the complex position of offense, while Austin gives the same for the powerful aspects of being a defensive powerhouse.

These Captains, all so different, but yet so similar in the amount of leadership they bring to the team, will all face many challenges this upcoming season, but they will move through them, their teammates following behind, as one unit. These players provide confidence to their team and are essential to the team's success this upcoming season in Tier I.
